Show Description: The much-anticipated rulings, by the United States Supreme Court, regarding the posting of the Ten Commandments on government property, did little to end the struggle or the debate. The Supreme Court handed-down two rulings this week, on separate cases, which appear to give small victories to both sides. In a Kentucky case, the justices ruled 5 - 4 that the Ten Commandments could not be displayed in court buildings or on government property. However, the Ten Commandments could be displayed in an historical context. The majority wrote that the ?First Amendment mandates governmental neutrality between religion and religion, and between religion and non-religion.? In other words, the Court made no decision at all. This country was founded on the belief that God is supreme and divine. America's vision has always been rooted in the moral law of what is good and right. We appear to have lost our way in this country. We have forgotten who we are. We have amnesia. However, there is hope. In a Texas case before the high court, the justices ruled 5 - 4 that a statue, containing the Ten Commandments, located on the capitol grounds, could remain on display. Chief Justice Rehnquist stated, ?According to Judeo-Christian belief, the Ten Commandments were given to Moses by God on Mt. Sinai. But Moses was a lawgiver as well as a religious leader. And the Ten Commandments have an undeniable historical meaning.? No kidding! The Ten Commandments are THE underpinnings upon which our society is based. God?s law is supreme. Tthe Ten Commandments should be posted in every government building.
