Show Description: Roger Clemens went before Congress this week in the ongoing Major League Baseball steroid controversy. If you would have asked me a month ago, I probably would have said I believe Roger. But after the phone taping situation, and then hearing him before the Congressional Panel, I have to say I think he is lying. Baseball should forgive him, but they need to deal with him as well. Join the conversation as we look at baseball and steroids.

Allen's Legal Pad for
Roger's Roid Rage

I actually sat and watched a lot of the hearings in Congress this week

Actually pretty riveting stuff

High drama – hearing room

Same table – Clemens and McNamee separated by one man

There they were

Brian McNamee – mildly and politely admitting he had injected clients with steroids or HGH – including Clemens – evidence mounting on his side

And there was Roger Clemens – greatest pitcher of all time – desperately clinging to his star – adamantly denying any contact with illegal substances ever

Nearly all Americans believe McNamee – that Clemens used steroids to enhance his Hall of Fame career

And we feel deceived – we wonder if anything in baseball is real – if the greatest HR hitter and the greatest pitcher doped up, what does that say?

We are angry – we want justice

Unlike Marion Jones, who used steroids, but finally admitted it and asked for forgiveness,

Unlike Dana Jacobsen, who insulted Christians, but apologized and asked for forgiveness

Clemens remains steadfast – he refuses to acknowledge anything

Why do good people lie? Just seems obvious - “misremembers”

Making up words to explain things away

McNamee had nothing to gain by implicating anyone – danger of losing everything

Clemens needs to lie to save name, reputation, HOF, idol status

Should baseball forgive him? Yes – we all deserve forgiveness, even need it

Should baseball ignore his behavior? No

It simply can not do so

There is no forgiveness without repentance

And Clemens refuses to be honest – flaunts BB and the legal system

Have to face the consequences – perjury charges, removal of records, tarnished name

Like Rose, like Bonds, Clemens should be banned from the HOF

If they ever decide to come clean, then we'll talk

But their actions, and now their untruths and half-truths of misremembering have damaged the very game that made them in the firs t place

Clemens refuses to tell the truth

Justice comes now

Forgiveness will have to come later

Allen's Top Five 5 BBQ Restaurants
1. Tucker's BBQ in Macon, Georgia. Unbelievable food. Words cannot describe.
2. Fincher's BBQ - Macon, Georgia. Why does Macon have such good BBQ?
3. Ole' Timer BBQ. Rome, Georgia. Great food but check out the BBQ Turkey. One of a kind.
4. Sprayberry's BBQ - Newnan, GA. Barbecue is good, but the Brunswick stew and onion rings are divine.
5. Shane's Rib Shack and BBQ - the original on Hwy. 155 in McDonough is superb. Ribs and pulled pork!
