Show Description: Did you hear the story of Priscilla Ceballos? Apparently she helped her child write an essay for Hannah Montana tickets and they won. The catch is the story was all made up. Give me a break. Join the conversation as we look at how to raise kids honestly and providing a dose of reality.

Allen's Legal Pad for
Hannah Lie-tana

Ever OK to cheat for your children? To do whatever it takes to give your kids something special or an advantage in life?

Because I have to say no – and this story of Priscilla Ceballos in Dallas shows how mainstream it has become

Hannah Montana concert

Club Libby Lu contest for tickets – essay contest winner gets 4 tickets to Albany, Ny concert

So mom and 6 year old Alexis wrote essay - “My daddy died this year in Iraq” - “give mommy the angel pendant that daddy put on mommy when she was having me”

Claimed a roadside bomb had killed her father

Alexis beat out 1000 other entries to win

One catch – the whole thing was a fake

? man never even served in the military, does not live with them

Turns out the mom passed off the handwriting as her daughter's

Letter represents the worst moral behavior I can imagine for a parent outside of molestation issues – worse than neglect

Teaching kid that you do whatever it takes to get whatever you want

Lying, cheating, deception are good – all about you

Now as despicable and deplorable as that behavior is

Worse – mom denied having done anything wrong in first place

“Essays all the time – never said it was true”

But what really gets me is this

Writer of the article for ABC news says

“While some may understand the Ceballos' desperation to attain tickets to the hottest concerts to children and tweens, others believe her actions may have caused more harm to her daughter than if she had not won the tickets...”

Are you kidding me?

You cannot just say that that is horribly wrong

This kind of behavior is so mainstream that the best you can is say some may understand it – feel obligated to pussyfoot around the issue, to be non-judgmental - wow

Desperation – this is not desperation

No food, no house, no job, dad really died in Iraq – that is desperation

Concert tickets for a 6 year old? That is not desperation

Self-entitlement and indulgence take me generation to a whole new level

Questions:

Where in your head do you rationalize that this kind of behavior is an OK way to help your kids?

Ever OK to cheat for your children?

Pay someone off to get them a place in a camp that is crowded?

Seen it? Done it?

Sadly, most parents say yes

What 1 current struggle face with your child or teenager?

Misc:

Lack of shame – decency – confess and acknowledge you got carried away

Good Morning America specialist – Enormous pressure on parents

No, there is not – You are the PARENT for heaven's sake – OMG

Buy kid an ipod because friends have one?
