The Weapons of Mass Destruction Commission report is out, and the findings of the commission state clearly that the intelligence and assumptions that lead President Bush to invade Iraq two years ago were, in the words of the Commission, ?dead wrong.? In very unflattering terms, the report shows that, among intelligence agencies, turf battles, a lack of sharing information, and a lack of dissenting views contributed greatly to the intelligence failure which ultimately lead up to the invasion of Iraq. While I agree that intelligence reforms are warranted and necessary, invading Iraq, and freeing over 20 million people from the cruel dictatorship of Saddam Hussein, was the right thing to do. Freedom, liberty, democracy, and hope have sprung-up all over Iraq, and the people of Iraq are certainly better off without the tyranny of Saddam. Many of the president?s detractors are again beating the drum that the U.S. invaded Iraq for all the wrong reasons. Is providing hope, freedom, liberty, and democracy, to an entire nation, not grounds for an invasion? I think it is. What do you think?
