Show Description: In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the extent of the disaster and the human tragedy continues to unfold. Why does God allow these kinds of things to happen? Is He not in control? Is He mean and vindictive? We live in a broken world that still has a powerful spiritual struggle between dark forces and light. Until the end, when God fully restores His creation, we will experience these kinds of horrible tragedies. However, the Christian response in the meantime is one of compassion and generosity ? assisting victims with food, water and life?s basic needs. Please visit the Salvation Army (http://www.salvationarmyusa.org/) or the United Methodist Committee On Relief (http://gbgm-umc.org/umcor/) in order to donate assistance to our neighbors in need.

Quotes to Live By
"We say that people are proud of being rich, or clever, or good-looking, but they are not. They are proud of being richer, or cleverer, or better-looking than others...It is the comparison that makes you proud: the pleasure of being above the rest."
-C.S. Lewis
Prayer Request from a Listener
I am 27 years old smoker with high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I cant seem to find the strength to quit smoking, eat better and start exercising. I have 2 children and want to be around as long as I can for them. Please help me pray for the motivation and strength to make these changes in my life. Thank you.
