Show Description: The Georgia legislature is thinking about paying $1.2 million to Pete Williams for wrongfully incriminating him for 22 years for a rape he did not commit. It would be $100,000 now, and $50,000 per year for the rest, and frankly I don't think that is enough! Join the conversation as we look at justice.

Allen's Legal Pad for Let's Make It Right: Pay Pete Williams More
Update on story we discussed a year ago
23 year old Pete Williams – convicted of rape
nearly 22 years in prison
Georgia Innocence Project – had director on last year
DNA evidence exonerated him
Now legislature discussing how to compensate him
Proposal for $1.2MM settlement to compensate for nearly 22 years
$100K up front, and then $50K per year for 22 years
I don't think that is enough
Oprah has her show the Big Gift
Ty has Extreme Makeover – stirs compassion and generosity
How in world you compensate a man for missing prime years of his life
Prison is hell
23 to 45 – big years
Prison, fighting, angry, despondent
Pay him way more than that – at least double to $2.5MM
Whose responsibility is this anyway?
Government
You and me as citizens – meet the man, give him a job, give him a car, give him retirement fund checks – why don't regular folks step up to help with this?
Nobody
Know there will be some hard liners
Forgiveness for Texas youth pastor who killed someone 15 years ago – just now turning himself in after turning life around – stabbed convenience store clerk while robbing cigarettes
Hard liners came out of woodwork to say he deserved whatever he gets – forget the 15 years of serving others and shaping lives and the fact that he turned self in on own
Well, what about Pete Williams?
Hard liners probably wanted him to do 45 years or get death penalty
Justice system did not work – he gave up 22 years
How pay him now?
Who responsible? Would you give $ to help Pete?
You, me and government - $2.5MM
How much is a man's life worth anyway?
