Show Description: The Florida Lottery began operation in January of 1988 based upon a constitutional amendment that was approved by Florida voters by a 2-to-1 margin. The Lottery was to provide additional funding for state education, and it was mandated that 35% of all revenues go to the state Department of Education. To date, the Florida Lottery has raised approximately $14 billion for education. That sounds OK until you consider that roughly $40 billion in Lottery ticket sales was needed to generate the $14 billion. Add to that the fact that the Lottery is disproportionately funded by poor people, who have no reasonable expectation of ever receiving any payback on the monies spent on Lottery tickets, and you have a real mess on your hands. The final tragedy, in all of this, is the fact that, on a percentage basis, less funding is being provided for education in Florida today than when the Lottery was first adopted. Tell me again why there should be a lottery in Florida.

I am 27 years old smoker with high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I cant seem to find the strength to quit smoking, eat better and start exercising. I have 2 children and want to be around as long as I can for them. Please help me pray for the motivation and strength to make these changes in my life. Thank you.
