Show Description: It looks like the Presidential election is coming down to John McCain and Barack Obama - or as I am labeling them Mr. Values and Mr. Faith. So who do you vote for? Seriously. Obama talks openly about his faith, but doesn't share the same values as most Conservative Christians. Yet McCain, who when talks about his faith sounds incredibly forces, shares more of the values of traditionally conservative Christians. So join the conversation and tell us who are you voting for: Mr. Faith or Mr. Values.

Allen's Legal Pad for
Mr. Faith or Mr. Values

Looks like we're down to 2

Obama – faith

McCain – values

Obama – talks openly about his conversion, faith, his moral compass – believes it is important to care for the poor and defenseless - CLIP

yet he thinks the government is the answer to all our problems

But governments should never do for people what they can do for themselves

Essentially a socialist - governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods

No private, no individual – chiefly the collective

Decisions all collective and public – little left to individual

History shows that big governments demean people – think Stalin- 20MM

Mao - 40MM

Worst governments were socialist

McCain – rarely mentions his faith, and when he does it sounds forced, even shallow –

CLIP

Yet war hero holds most of the values that Christians hold dear– human life matters, strong defense is crucial to present danger in Islamic supremacists, and government is more a problem than the answer

So what do you do?

Vote for Mr faith or vote for Mr values?

Been the biggest wide-open election of my lifetime

And now I have no idea what to do

Mr Faith – very likeable – hopeful, optimistic

But at the end of the day – worry about the government creep we see – FDR began

Folks looking to Big Daddy to do and provide for them

Very antithesis of nation's founding principles

Squashes initiative, innovation, independence – ability to be all you can be

Last time saw great invention or new technology come from the government

Want it there overnight – send it USPO? Don't think so

I actually think small government is a faith issue

Values the individual – unfettered to make moral decisions for self

Each in the image of God - destiny

So what's it gonna be – faith or values?

I'll probably close my eyes and say Mr. values

Misc:

Michelle Obama – on Larry King – want everyone to have back up we have

Andy's oppositiion

Quotes to Live By
"Join with others in following my example, brothers, and take note of those who live according to the pattern we gave you. For, as I have often told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body."
-Philippians 3:17-21
