Show Description: I interviewed Amy Sutherland this week and she has a new book out called What Shamu Taught Me About Life, Love and Marriage. The basic gist of it is that women need to reward their husbands for their good behavior and ignore (not nag) for their bad behavior. Interesting. Kind of sounds like 1Corinthians 13. Join the conversation as we look out how to better our marriages the Shamu way.

Allen's Legal Pad for How Shamu Can Help Our Marriages
A new book teaches women to train their husbands like trainers teach whales
Secret? Ignore their bad behavior, and lavishly reward their good behavior
Leaves his laundry on the floor? don't nag, stay patient
Washes one dish? Puts one sock in the hamper give him a hug, declare his greatness, rejoice in the victory
Soon you will have a husband who will act and do as you please
What Shamu Taught Me about Life, Love and Marriage
Amy Sutherland
Husband often tardy,
These minor annoyances are not the stuff of separation and divorce, but in sum they began to dull my love for Scott. I wanted needed to nudge him a little closer to perfect, to make him into a mate who might annoy me a little less, who wouldn't keep me waiting at restaurants, a mate who would be easier to love.
Watched whales and dolphins teach them to jump from tank
Reward behavior I like and ignore behavior I don't
Chips and salsa at end of counter to keep him from hovering while she cooked
Pick up one sock applaud and reward
Nagging makes behavior worse passive aggressive
Lot of folks think nit-picky on negative will help improvement
And lot of folks afraid to tell women to use their feminine wiles to manipulated and improve their men
Praise, rewards, patience, and applause make behavior better
Sounds really familiar
Remember the passage read at most weddings?
Love is patient, love is kind...not arrogant or rude
Love does not rejoice in the wrong but rejoices in the right
Patience, rewarding good behavior hallmarks of love
Ladies, don't nag as hard as it may be for you
Reward us men like trainers giving mackerel parts to a whale
Then stand back and behold, a marriage that is mutual, loving, and whole
We men learn quickly just give us a chance (and a little loving wouldn't hurt)

Quotes to Live By
"The best argument for Christianity is Christians: their joy, their certainty, their completeness. But the strongest argument against Christianity is also Christians ? when they are sombre and joyless, when they are self-righteous and smug in complacement consecration, when they are narrow and repressive, then Christianity dies a thousand deaths. But, though it is just to condemn some Christians for these things, perhaps, after all, it is not just, though very easy, to condemn Christianity itself for them."
