Show Description: Recent news regarding abortion and cloning have sparked renewed debate over the sacredness of human life. The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments regarding a New Hampshire case in order to determine if restrictions on abortion are unconstitutional. Over the past 13 years, the Supreme Court has held that states may not place an ?undue burden? on those seeking abortions (Planned Parenthood v. Casey). I am all for placing restrictions on abortion. Abortion cannot be viewed as another form of birth control. In the case of cloning, South Korean researcher Hwang Woo-suk, with the full support of the Korean government, has successfully cloned human embryos in what has been called a ?cloning factory?. While the South Korean government is providing massive support to Hwang?s research, the United States government, at President Bush?s direction, will not provided public funds for such research, ?I made very clear to Congress that the use of federal money, taxpayers? money, to promote science which destroys life in order to save life - I?m against that,? said President Bush. Many in today?s society look to research, technology, and so-called ?enlightenment? to reach the conclusion that cloning and abortion are acceptable. God created life, and life is not to be taken lightly. Since we are made in God?s image, by God, only He has the power to take life.
