Show Description: I went and saw Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story and I have to say, it's a hard time to raise teenage daughters. Why? Because I have come to realize that we really do live in a pornographic culture and nobody seems to notice. Virginity seems to be an antiquated idea that no longer is worth anything in our culture. So join the conversation as we look at sex and raising kids.

Show Poll: Should virginity be an ideal that we instill in teens?

Allen's Legal Pad for
Like A Virgin?

Got something that bothers me a lot

And it got worse over vacation time off for holidays

As a father of two teenage daughters and as a pastor

How in the world do you teach them and raise them?

Seriously

Rented Knocked Up – big hit comedy

Porn flick – this stuff was rated X 20 years ago

Walk hard – Dewey Cox Story – even more

Full frontal johnson shots – are you kidding me? 4X?

What happened?

Did I miss something?

How raise kids with any sense whatsoever about sexual behavior

I mean Muslim girls in England have surgery to re-virginate so they don't get executed when marry a Muslim man who expects a virgin

Culture our kids are swimming in is pornographic

Sex everywhere

How do you teach them – respect, dignity, purity, holiness

That God has hopes and dreams

That your sexuality is special, intimate

That's what bothers me most – don't want my girls to think they have to behave that way

That they have no value other than as porn fantasy for guys

Want them to understand that they are special and valuable – that their love, their bodies, their virginity is worth something – special part of who they are

Bothers me most that we are selling them out – immersed in toxic, pornographic culture

When sex is walking down the street in full drag all around them all day every day

Watch a TV show – 8” pipe

Is anybody else disgusted? Outraged? Even notice? Just me?

Is virginity a lost cause – an outdated concept?

As a parent – it is really discouraging to face this steamroller of permissiveness that we call a culture and a school system

No one wants to say sex is wrong – just throw some condoms their way

Low expectations – and we marvel at the result

4 full frontal shots in a rated R movie

Questions:

Do you care?

What do you do?

Has it worked? Got tips? Do kids listen to you?

Is Church only place to get exact opposite demonstration? Used to at least have Waltons

Misc.

Muslim re-virgination

Tips (3)

1 – lots of coaching and conversation about who they are and sexuality

2 – mentor them through media – can't blockade them from culture – gotta walk alongside and not act shocked – just explain and coach

3 – Develop a strong faith life

First Things – unplug for three days – then plug back in and notice how it is everywhere

1 seriously sick culture

Allen's Top Five 5 BBQ Restaurants
1. Tucker's BBQ in Macon, Georgia. Unbelievable food. Words cannot describe.
2. Fincher's BBQ - Macon, Georgia. Why does Macon have such good BBQ?
3. Ole' Timer BBQ. Rome, Georgia. Great food but check out the BBQ Turkey. One of a kind.
4. Sprayberry's BBQ - Newnan, GA. Barbecue is good, but the Brunswick stew and onion rings are divine.
5. Shane's Rib Shack and BBQ - the original on Hwy. 155 in McDonough is superb. Ribs and pulled pork!
