Show Description: I came to a profound realization this past week. I am middle-aged. I know, I have been middle aged for a while, but for some reason it hit me this year. So I did something this year I have never done: I established some New Years resolutions. But it got me thinking about the fact I probably only have 30 years left. Join the conversation as we look at life and what we are going to do with the rest of our life.

Allen's Legal Pad for Turning 44
Middle age – accepted the truth
44 this week – did something never done before – resolutions – 6 of them
3rd quarter of life – coming out of locker room after halftime
Made me think – what do I want? What does God want?
Trip to NC to see family – first time together since dad died 5 years ago
Long, long trip – glacial
Somewhere along the way – got a lot of clarity
Best part of trip was talking with daughters
Took it seriously – second half now
Coincides with New Year's – never done resolutions before – waste of time
49% do them – 8% actually achieve them
You may think they are are waste of time – I always have
But something happened to me this go-round – you're gonna wanna hear this
Just may convince you to write down something – take a few minutes to pray or focus today and get er done
First show of new year
I went about it a different way this year – because I am middle aged
Most resolutions – smoking, exercise, make money
What's important to me?
What does God desire from my life?
And some major things are happening this year – don't want to miss those
So somewhere in the middle of eastern NC – desolate – OMG
They came to me – 6 things I will focus on this year
Why 6, not 10? Why not 4? Don't know – 6 came to me – 6 things important
Wrote those down scribbling – little Holiday Inn sheet of paper
Then took what Izzo taught me on show last time – commitment cards
Little card, with plan jotted on it – carry with me in pocket
Action plan so I actually do something
So listen and want you to tell me what I am missing? What have you learned that I need to know – halftime – taking steps to get the most meaning from my life
