Last show before Christmas

Christmas memory – real life and faith – slice of real life

Albert

Grew up poor – sharecropper – like most others at time

Youngest child- older siblings cared for him a lot – got 5 cents each Saturday to walk to town – see a movie or get ice cream- his choice

each year at Christmas he wished for same gift – a bicycle

Still remember mine – red – same year as NFL football

Each year it did not come

This time he was 9 – again he wished to Santa, asked his mother, prayed to God

“Please bring me a bike”

That Christmas he woke up – discovered, yet again, no bike – oranges and apples

As lunch approached – older sister, 23, mill worker in cotton mill – scrounging together enough money to feed her kids- came walking in house

“Albert, I brought you my present”

Albert ran outside – there it was – new red bicycle – salvation had come

Bike meant something to Albert – meant he had a sister who loved him immensely

Meant someone cared, really really cared

So Albert did what any boy would do – he slept with it – slept with his bike for a month

ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (AP) - A woman stabbed her husband with a kitchen knife following an argument that began when she accused him of opening a Christmas present early, authorities said Friday.

Misty Johnson, 34, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and battery, a felony, and misdemeanor domestic battery. Her husband, Shawn Fay Johnson, 34, was treated at a hospital for a wound to the chest, police said.

Misty Johnson made an initial court appearance Thursday in which she requested a court-appointed attorney, authorities said. She was released after posting bail, which was set at $7,500.

Authorities said Shawn Johnson called 911 just before 1 a.m. Wednesday to report that his wife had stabbed him. He told police that his wife started arguing with him over his opening a Christmas present, according to court records.

As the argument escalated, Misty Johnson accused her husband of having an affair, authorities said. Police found a marriage license in the couple's apartment stating they were married in late September.

Police Detective David Thompson said he didn't know what the present was, or if it was intended for the husband.

Quotes to Live By
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will ? to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves."
