Show Description: My daughter came home this past week after her 1st semester of college. Wow, are things different. I can't believe how different things are. I think a lot of parents feel this way. So join the conversation as we look at what life is like after having your child go away to college.

Love doing this show – real life and faith

Right and wrong – not politics

Get to share my life with you

You get to know me and what I feel

Slice of my real life

Surprising – of all things talked about on this show

HWJV, swingers, take this job and shove it, Paulk sex scandal

Biggest response – has not been Islam, adultery, even lottery

Biggest response was when I took my daughter to college

Be in Kroger, at family reunion, at church, having lunch

“you know, I heard you share about taking your daughter to college”

Here's what I said – CLIP

That was a moment – wow

Well, guess what? She's home – came home on Tuesday – for Christmas

tried to get her on the show tonight – but she was busy!

First semester of college is over – and it is weird now that she is home

Weird – she is much more independent and self-confident – doesn't need us in same way she did

Weird – we had gotten used to just three of us being at home – now 4 again – table weird, garage weird, sister weird

Weird – my role has changed – now more friend and advisor than director – went to a movie just me and her – Atonement – realized she is an adult now – I now have a wonderful new young adult friend – cool but weird

Dynamic is different

She can handle stuff on her own now

Now we knew things would be different – knew that day in September that one chapter was closing and another one opening

But you kind of forget that – expect things to be the same

I have to remember that farewell moment – really was a farewell to one chapter

Things are not the same – will not be – and now is when we begin living that

Then there is my wife – when daughter comes home, excited for days in anticipation

When she leaves, weepy and moping

Does it ever get better?

And my daughter last night – sharing how one of her friends was headed home and trying to figure out how not to stay long

Just knew that she could no longer live under the rules, the oppressive regime of her parents Nazi rule any more

Home one day and ready to go back to school

Prayer Request from a Listener
I am 27 years old smoker with high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I cant seem to find the strength to quit smoking, eat better and start exercising. I have 2 children and want to be around as long as I can for them. Please help me pray for the motivation and strength to make these changes in my life. Thank you.
