Show Description: I was appalled to find out the incredible 30-year story of adultery by the Archbishop Earl Paulk of the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit at Chapel Hill Harvester Church. I used to have such respect for this church. It was alive and thriving. I never would have guessed something like this was going on. But this, and countless other recent stories, have got me thinking about why it is people don't trust the church anymore. And honestly, I can't say that I blame them. Join the discussion as we look at the church and why when it is running well it is the greatest institution, but at the same time it can be disastrous. We will also have special guest - Mona Brewer - the only person Earl Paulk has admitted to have a relationship with.

Show Guest: Mona Brewer
Talking Points:
  • Mona was at Paulk's church for 10 years where she was "taught" to trust the spiritual authority
  • Was apart of the worship team
  • Her husband was a pastor at the church, and like a lot of newlyweds began to have problems
  • Pastors on their staff weren't allowed to talk "below" their positions at the church, so when they had issues they had to talk to either Paulk or a woman named Lynn
  • Paulk eventually found out about the marital issues, and contacted Mona
  • Paulk eventually invited her to his house. He picked her up in his car and took her to his house.
  • Paulk actually had a garage underneath the house that led directly to a bedroom
  • Paulk called their relationship a "kingdom relationship" and compared Mona to the Virgin Mary
  • Their "kingdom relationship" lasted 14 years.
  • Donny Earl asked Mona 11 years ago whether or not Donny was his father or Earl
  • Earl Paulk had told Mona many times that Donny Earl was actually Earl's son, and not Donny's son
  • Paulk would train Mona on how to hide the relationship
  • Mona had an epiphany that Lyn was a fake, and that was the beginning of the downfall
  • When she confronted Paulk, Paulk said "the devil was trying to kill him and he is using you"
  • Mona's husband, Bobby was told 5 months after she confronted Paulk.
  • Bobby confronted Paulk and offered to get him help. Bobby accused him of - amongst other things - child molestation. Told Paulk it was over. Paulk responded by saying, "well we have attorneys for that." Bobby got angry, grabbed Paulk and shook him saying "what do you mean." Donny (Earl's brother) came at Bobby, and Bobby punched him. Then Earl came at him, and Bobby punched him as well.
