Fresno and Presidents

Broadcasting today from 12:00-2:00 pm PT (3-5 ET) on KMJ in Fresno. What a great way to celebrate Presidents' Day - with the folks in the central valley of California!

Many thanks to Ray Appleton, who is graciously allowing us to fill in on his show while he takes a day off.

Here's hoping the folks in Fresno become a regular part of the Allen Hunt Show family on the weekends in the near future!

WWJV?

Well, Mitt Romney is on the television right now sharing his convictions about faith and how a candidate should not be accepted or rejected because of faith.

Mike Huckabee has grown sensitive to the idea that he is getting grilled by the media for his dismissal of evolution as the supreme explanation for all things on earth.

Hillary and Barack are openly sharing their faith stories and appearing in church settings to demonstrate their spirituality.

All of which leads me to ask, "How would Jesus vote?"

If Jesus were here in the United States today, what would He use to assess candidates seeking to lead our country? What characteristics would be important to Him?
Personal faith?
Compassion?
Honesty and integrity?
Leadership skills?
Experience?
Intelligence?
Problem-solving skills?
Strong on defense?
Passion for freedom?
Pro-life?
Care for the poor and the weak?
Which of these would inform Jesus' decision to vote?

I have my own opinion, which I will share on Sunday's show. But I would really like to hear what you think.

How would Jesus vote? HWJV?
Why do you think that?

let the blogging begin!

I Still Remember

I still remember. Yes, I do.

I was taking my senior leadership on a retreat to the mountains of NC when I pulled into the post office in Cedar Mountain, NC, and was met by a woman sharing the news. My reaction was shock and denial.

We drove rapidly to the place we were staying. Turned on the TV. Could not believe my eyes.

Planes slashing through towers. The Pentagon. PA field. No words to describe the feelings - horror, fear, worry, shock. Words fail.

2973. 2973 people died that day. And the world came to see the roots and DNA of Islam in a way we had not previously before.

We are at war. A way of life is at stake. Islamic supremacists desire a world bowed before Allah. No freedom to choose - only sharia law.

Their methods are ingenious and varied - legal and illegal immigration, high birth rates, radical madrassahs, American culture-specific public schools, nuclear bombs, suicide bombs, cultural accommodation, intimidation.

Make no mistake - we are at war.

I still remember.

Islam

Any listener of mine knows that I simply do not believe that Islam is a religion. It is a political movement masquerading as a religion.

Many fine, kind people are Muslims, but the very core of Islam is rooted in violence. In fact, Mohammed, the founder of Islam, organized a military raids and campaigns to conver the villages around him on the Arabian peninsula at swordpoint.

When the founder of a religion uses extreme violence and coercion, how can we rightly expect the followers to do otherwise?

3 helpful resources to prove the point:
1) www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/reference/searchquran.html
Check out this web site to do a word search in the Koran. One of my listeners emailed this to me. Search for "love". A number of references pop up but none of them pertain to loving our neighbors or God being a God of love. Love is barely present in Islam's understanding of God. Not a good sign.

2) The book Islamic Imperialism by Efraim Karsh. Excellent, scholarly look at the violent 1400 years of Islam. Published by Yale University Press.

3) www.thereligionofpeace.com
Details day by day the violent outbursts of the Muslim supremacists around the globe. More than 2000 dead in April alone. Scary.

The Allen Hunt Show is about faith and life, plain and simple. According to a Gallup Poll in May of 2005, 85% of Americans consider their faith important or fairly important to their lives. Yet there is a gap on the talk radio airwaves that examines where faith and life come together. This show fills that gap like nothing currently on the radio. This is not one more political talk show, nor is it another faith-based counseling show because ultimately, life is not about what is right or left, but about what is right and wrong. The Allen Hunt Show takes on real life issues, with real life people, to see how faith can have a real impact. Join us on Saturdays from 9-11 PM and Sundays from 6-9 PM. Blessings!
