Very interesting. Joe Eszterhas has experienced a complete turnaround in his life.
Wrote dozens of works, including Basic Instinct, exploring the seamier side of life. Made a fortune.
Diagnosed with throat cancer and forced to give up drinking and smoking. Almost drove him crazy, literally.
Cried out to God in desperation. Did not even consider himself a believer. And things changed. Dramatically.
Even returned to the Catholic Church of all things.
Check it out here.
Very moving. We'll try to get him on the show to learn more.

And his new book, Crossbearer is not selling. Just a week after its release, it is listed at number #22,501 at Amazon only a week after its release. For comparison, The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins has first been published in 1976 and is listed at #606.
Also the excellent book by Richard Friedman Who Wrote the Bible from 1997 is on #6,100.
In sub-sub-sub-category "Books > Biographies & Memoirs > Leaders & Notable People > Religious" Eszterhas's Damascus memoir is 77th, being beat by such timely volumes as the biography of St. Francis of Assisi by G.K. Chesterton from 1923 or the Autobiography of the Dalai Lama from 1991.
Color me unimpressed.
