Allen announced on the air the other weekend that he will be stepping aside as the Senior Pastor of Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church to pursue the radio show full-time. Allen describes the situation as, "exciting, scary and sad all at the same time. I'm stepping out into the great unknown, but trusting God."

Invocation at Aaron's 499 (Talladega)

That's right folks. The self-proclaimed NASCAR preacher got the opportunity to lead the Aaron's 499 invocation in front of 200,000 fans and millions more on TV. The race got rained out on Sunday, so he came back and did it again on Monday. (Video footage is from Sunday's race, FX didn't broadcast the invocation on Monday). Photos of Monday can be found here.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution covered Mount Pisgah's incredible work with Katrina victims. Mount Pisgah raised over $172,000 from its congregation, and families in the congregation took in displaced New Orleans families (including one family who at one time had 33 evacuees in their home).
